Sorry it's a little late...Malawi about 10 days in

Hey everyone!

Sorry that I am now just posting to the blog. We just do not have regular access to the internet. But I am having sooooooo much fun here. The country is amazing and so beautiful. An overall vibe that I get from Malawi is welcoming and hospitality. Everywhere I go I feel welcome, even at churches. The people here are so nice. Well, you are probably wondering what I have been up to. The place ride was very long, but not as bad as I thought. We were in the capital city of Linlongwe for a night then travled to Zomba, about a four hour bus ride. On the way we stopped in Dedza at a elephant dung paper making place. That was really cool to see how they use every available resource. Each school is teaching in a different primary school. I am teaching at the Governement primary school. I like it a lot. It's a lot of work. My roommate and I stay up late making lesson plans. We are teaching Life Skills, Agriculture, Expressive Arts, Bible Knowledge, and English. The kids are always glad to see us. The greet us at the beginning of every class. They also love to have their picture taken and then when you show it to them the go crazy. The treat us like celebrities here. They chase our bus and want to shake our hands. Everytime we pull up to the schools they scream out "white people" in Chichewe.

Annie's Lodgs is really nice too. I get along with roommate really well. It turns out her name is Rachel too, so we have basically formed into one being, which is ok by me! :) I know that there is so much to say but I don't have that much time. I will try to keep updating as soon as I can.

Summer Abroad

Hey everyone!

I have never blogged before, so hopefully this will work out. I will be spending a month in Malawi, Africa from June 21 through July 18 this summer. I am taking a 3 credit course and while I am there I will be teaching at a local school in a village. Also, I will be climbing the thrid largest mountain, Mt. Mulanje, and going on a night safari. Throughout the month I will update the blog on my expereinces and upload pictures and hopefully some videos. I welcome your comments, questions, and anything else that's on your mind.
